Hi Guys,
A few weeks ago, I supported Kris at one of this Crossfit competitions. He’d always talk about how intense his workouts were, so here was my chance to see if it was the real deal! And trust me, it really DID live up to the hype!!

I found two photos that I really liked, but couldn’t figure out when I was going to post them. Originally, I had thought that my “365 Days….” would involve me only posting ONE photo a day. But how silly would it look if I posted one photo one day, and then on some other, random day, I’d post another one?

So, it was unanimously decided that Tuesdays would be dubbed “Two-fer Tuesdays”.
Who unanimously decided? Well… ME!

040.1 “There’s a fine line between the Taste of Victory and Vomit” – Crossfit

This is one of Kris’ friends from his gym. I think this photo really depicts their motto!  Well, minus the vomit…
How lucky was I to get that shot, even before knowing what their gym motto was!?!
And… I don’t know why they decided to capitalize “Taste”, “Victory” and “Vomit”.

040.2in⋅ten⋅si⋅ty: great energy, strength, concentration, vehemence, etc.
ve⋅he⋅mence synonym: passion.

When I reviewed my photos and saw this one, the one word that came to my mind was “intensity”. I knew in my mind how I wanted to show this photo- with the definition. But I had no clue what “vehemence” meant (sounding out the word was even difficult for me), but when I looked at the synonym, I thought “PERFECT!”

According to Kris, this guy was doing a “burpee”. This is where you do a push-up, then you stand up and jump. All I know is that this guy looked like he was in pain… Intense!

039“Golden slumber kiss your eyes, smiles await you when you rise.
Sleep, pretty baby, do not cry, and I’ll sing you a lullaby…” -Golden Slumber lyrics

This is Paulette’s newest addition to her family, Sophia.
I barely met her yesterday afternoon. On the day she was born, I was terribly sick and didn’t want to infect her cute little immune system. I think she looks so much like Paulette in this picture.

IMG_4480 eWhy you so angry?

This is Sophia’s big sister, Madie. I took it back in 2008. I don’t remember why she made this face. Maybe she didn’t like the person holding the camera. :(
Kids… I love them!
I love ‘em when they’re cute. I love ‘em when they’re and friendly.
And i love the fact that when they’re being brats, I don’t have to take them home. :)

035.1 & 035.2

035.1 Which Way Is Up?

Do you know what this is? It’s a valve of some type… But is the white part of the photo the floor?

035.2
Nope!

I was sitting in my workplace’s diner eating lunch with my friends when I looked at the wall. While I pretended to listen to the conversation going on, I thought to myself, “Wow! What in interesting color and pattern the brick wall makes and that pipe thingy looks cool!” I only intended on shooting the pipeline, until I became curious to see what a picture of the valve would look like from a different angle. I could have used my wide angle lens, but I didn’t want to go back to my desk just to change the lens.

Two photos for day 035! :)

034 “Aaah-ha-ha!!”

While waiting for my friends to finish talking, I started snapping pictures.

Every time I look at this photo, I keep thinking, “The photo should be lower… his hand should be lower.”
Would cropping the photo help? NOPE! I already tried it!
O well. :)

Here’s to day 034!

Hollywood Hike

February 2, 2010 irmy 2 comments

Have you guys seen “Yes Man” with Jim Carey? If so, you’ll know that he said yes to anything and everything.
I’ve taken on the title of “Yes Miss”. Although, I’m not going to say yes to everything that comes along my way, I will really consider it.

I didn’t consider hiking to the Hollywood Sign. I said yes right away.
I woke up early to join Kuya Noel and Jo Anne, along with her brother and his friends to trek a trail. I’ve hiked before with my Ate, and I was skeptical because I knew how much trouble I had going up a mountain the last time. But, I put that in the back of my mind and just went for it.
IMG_7664Yep, that’s me “going for it” about 20 minutes into the hike. I thought to myself, “What the heck did I get myself into?! Why the @#!$ did I agree to this?! Didn’t I learn my lesson the last time?” My ears started hurting so badly I wanted to cry and I puffed my inhaler a couple of times while Kuya Noel and Jo Anne’s backs were turned. I didn’t think I’d make it the rest of the way, but after about another 20 minutes of huffing-slash-puffing, plugging my ears and almost wanting to die, the hike all of a sudden became a breeze!

Because of my slowness, we were behind the rest of the group by about 30 minutes. That was fine with me because we took our own trail… stopped to look at “geological formations” and took photos!
IMG_9602I thought these series of photos were cool. We have some in front of the Hollywood sign… You can see one of the photos 2 posts before this one.
We look like we’re having a good time, right? :)

We’re rebels! We don’t follow the law.
No ONE tells us where to go or where NOT to go!
Especially not… “THE MAN”.
Did you know the Hollywood sign is actually blocked off to hikers because people like to vandalize it? We had no intention of doing that, so we felt we were committing no crime when we climbed under a fence to see it.
IMG_9633This is about as close as we got to the famous sign.
We ducked behind some bushes when we heard helicopters flying over head of us.  Yeah, we hid! LOL.

IMG_9658I don’t know where Jo Anne and Kuya Noel were looking at… but they weren’t looking in my direction… or were they? :)

But what an incredible hike!!
I’ve lived in LA for almost 30 years and this is the first time I’ve ever done this… and I’m so glad I did it too!
Woot!
Thanks for inviting me, guys!! :)

Here’s some more hiking pictures: Hollywood Hike
They are a combination of photos from both mine and kuya noel’s camera. ENJOY! :D

032Re-cap, Please

I received my first set of erasable markers today and thought, “Oh! I want to take a photo of all the markers with their caps off.” But none of the shots I took turned out very nicely. I was about to give up until I came back to my desk and stuck them in my cup where I keep my pens, pencils and highlighters.

The rest is… history! Or, well captured in the photograph above! Woot! You get the gist of the title, right?

027Even when you have n0thing, you $till have talent.

This photo was originally in the blog post below talking about my trip to Seattle, but after I put a caption on it, it felt like it should be a photo of the day.

When I saw this guy sitting on the street playing his make-shift drums, it made me think of Kuya Noel… not that he’s homeless or anything. But, not too long ago, I was chatting with my cousin when he said he wanted to learn to play the drums. Look at him, Kuya! A guy who has nothing (money wise) but he still plays. And he sounded AWESOME!

Don’t let your life pass by without doing something you really want to, Kuya!!! :D
That goes for everyone else, too!

Seattle in 38 Hours

January 27, 2010 irmy Leave a comment

Did you know that Seattle, Tacoma and other major cities in Washington were named after Native American Chiefs? It’s true! You can Google each of them, but I found out through my friends Princess and Chow when I visited them and their 9-month old son, Lucas in a “spur of the moment” decision to buy a plane ticket to Seattle.

Well, the decision to buy a ticket was spur of the moment, but I bought the ticket all the way back in November. But, anyways… I went, but only for a weekend. I arrived late Friday evening and left sorta early on Sunday morning. Saturday was a whirlwind of a day driving around seeing waterfalls and visiting Pike’s Marketplace.
IMG_9101Ever heard Chief Snoqualmie? Well, I haven’t either, but he has a waterfall named after him.
Pretty?
It was very peaceful up there… and very green!

We walked around Pike’s Marketplace. I really love those open markets where you can buy stuff like fish or meat or flowers or fruit.
IMG_9172Say hi to Ryan!
Have you ever seen footage of people throwing fish at each other in Seattle? They had a shot of that in the movie “Sleepless in Seattle”.
Watch out, though! They throw seafood around QUICK! You see that person in red in the bottom photo? Yeah! She (or he) almost got hit with that bag of clams!!

IMG_9208These little donuts are pretty popular in the marketplace. There was a line when we came around.
It was neat because the donuts are made right in front of you and you get them all hot! I almost burned my fingers touching them. They’re light and sugary.
But, i’ll be honest, I was expecting more flavor. But, when in Seattle…

We returned back to Chow & Princess’ place after a long and cold day of walking! We were all tired. After watching a movie on the Lifetime Network, I fell asleep on the couch…
I knew in about 12 hours I’d be heading back to LA.

IMG_9508I wish this photo came out clearer, but I thought this little kid was sooo cute!
He was actually running the wrong way on the conveyor-belt thingy at the Sea-Tac Airport when he met up with this man. It’s hard to see, but look at his smile. :)

A few more photos from my 38 hours in Seattle adventure: Seattle in 38

Before I leave, I wanna talk to you guys about another chief in Washington.
Chief Charlie Swan of the Forks, WA police department.
He’s Bella’s dad… and I love him! Not as much as I love Edward Cullen, but still!
It’s Twilight, folks. I just LOVE those books!

LOL. You know what’s funny?
My dad was watching “Twilight” this weekend. heehehe…
