M-Cafe

“Don’t panic, it’s organic!” – Kim via UCSanta Cruz memories
I was a bit wishy-washy on writing a post about my latest food adventure, but after chatting with Kim, she gave me the above quote and totally inspired me to go forth with the entry.  She’s a graduate of the hippie, love-loving school of UC Santa Cruz. Go Banana Slugs! Those slugs are super cute, by the way.

Anyways, here we go- M-Cafe: M-Cafe / Culver City, CA
Curried Tempeh Salad Wrap- masala-baked tempeh, brown basmati rice, toasted almonds, raisins, red bell pepper, frizzled onions, and curried soy yogurt dressing in a whole wheat lavash
Beet Lemonade- i think it could use a little more water
Thin-Cut Organic Fries- shiso, nori & sea salt with macro ketchup
Tuna Tataki Salad- citrus-soy marinated tuna seared rare, over mixed baby greens with cucumber, avocado, kaiware sprouts, wasabi mayo, and ponzu vinaigrette
Sweet Potato Fries- chili, sea salt & lime with spicy yuzo mayo.

I don’t know what it is about tuna, but i like it and whenever I see it served as a salad, my stomach instantly wants it. I really enjoyed my salad. I finished it, and I was happy with myself for that. I liked the sauce and the addition of the avocado. I’ve never had white tuna, so this was a first. YUM!

My cousin seemed to have liked her wrap. She got the 1/2 & 1/2 combo and got miso soup! I think it was just enough for her. Not too much, but not too little.

We both pleasantly devoured the yummy fries. I’ll be honest- i liked the sweet potato fries more than the organic fries, but both were very good because of the extra little pairings the restaurant thought of adding like lime or nori! Excellent! I really, realllyy liked the yuzo mayo dipping sauce!!

When we ordered our food, we told the gal at the register that it was our first time there. She told us the food was amazing and we wouldn’t leave feeling like we wanted to go to sleep! SOOO TRUE!!

For me, the judge of how good food/a restaurant is, is the simple question: Would you go back? I definitely would! You guys should try this place out, if you’re ever in Culver City, Melrose or Beverly Hills.
